Managing Director, a mechanical engineer by profession had a distinguished service career for seventeen years in the construction of steel plants through out India. During this period he worked in rolling mills, coke ovens and structural steel work. 

In the year 1985 he promoted Indfab. Under his guidance the company established itself in the construction, maintenance and spares parts development of Aluminium Smelters and was accredited as Ancillary Industry of National Aluminium Company, India. The company also developed a multinational market base as Indian associates of turnkey vendors for smelter plants.

Apart from his business, Prabhat Palit has a varied interest in social activities, environment, agro business & information technology.

He is a member of Lions International and Chairman of a Lions Eye Hospital. He is a member of Institute of Engineers, India, Member, Orissa Productivity Council, Orissa,  District President of Orissa Association of Small and Medium Enterprise, Advisor, Angul Chamber of Commerce.He is in the Management bodies of two Industrial Training Institutes.
